As the youngest of four siblings and a proud member of a hardworking Mexican family, Yani brings a passion for service and community to Escape Ministries. Currently attending Grand Rapids Community College, she is pursuing a degree in Pre-Writing with plans to minor in Spanish. When she was just 14 years old, she began at Escape in the ASAP program, and in 2023 she was honored as The Hero In Me winner for her perseverance and growth. Now, Yani is passionate about helping other young people find support through ASAP and opportunities through Career Connections. In her free time she enjoys reading fantasy novels, watching movies and anime, and baking desserts.
