Programs Assistant

Job Description:

Reports to: Connections Director 

Summary: The Programs Assistant will provide support to ESCAPE Programs and Education staff to through transportation, program execution, mentorship, embracing, and coach youth to thrive. 

Hours: Part-time: 20-30 hours weekly, flexible 

Rate of Pay: $16-18/hr, based on qualifications

Position Qualifications: 

-High school diploma or equivalent, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred 

-Active Driver’s License and good driving record 

-Pass a Criminal Background Check 

-Strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills, including Microsoft Word & Excel proficiency, basic photo/graphic design skills (e.g. Canva) preferred 

-Embraces mission and vision of Escape Ministries 

 

Desirable Characteristics: 

-Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills 

-Ability to develop relationships and be a positive role model for young people 

-Ability to take direction, follow through, collaborate with teams, and accept supervision & coaching. 

-Cross-cultural competency 

-Ability to work independently, adjust plans and problem-solve  

-Flexibility and ability to adapt to new situations  

 

Job Responsibilities: 

-Offer tutoring and mentorship to after-school, and ASAP students 

-Drive Escape vans to pick up/drop off students as needed 

-Assisting with can & bottle drive – organizing routine returns, collecting and submitting cash. 

-Help lead engaging groups, programs and activities for youth and parents. – planning content, preparing materials & food, executing gatherings. 

-Assist with summer Career Connections planning, interviewing, and execution. 

-Communicate with ASAP and Program Staff regarding student progress, issues 

-Assist with Drivers Training Scholarship interviews and evaluation 

-Use creative and effective techniques in student interactions (e.g. reflective listening, play, etc.) 

-Recruit students and parents to engage with Escape via social media, sign-up sheets, flyers, and community presence. 

-Execute all tasks in accordance with Escape’s mission, culture, and values (e.g. rooted in the Gospel, trauma-informed care, Relationships at the Center, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, etc.)
