Coaches & Trainers
Ruben Silvas boxed in 1983 – 1987, had the love for it and felt one day he would give back for what he was given. Since 2011 he started working with at risk teens, and in 2013 he became a registered coach.
Trinidad Morin has been a trainer since the mid 80’s with Tulip City Boxing Club. He’s worked with a lot of gang members and at risk teens. In 2011 he started working with the boxing program.
Why I Coach:
I’ve had a passion to fight and then to train fighters for years. In 2013 I was given the opportunity to take over the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) training position at Westside and have been there ever since. I’ve been approached by other gyms to train elsewhere but Westside is HOME.
Why I Coach:
I started boxing when I was 24 at Tulip City Athletic Club, after 10 years of training I became a coach and eventually opened my own training center. During a hiatus from running my own gym I started taking my kids to Westside. It wasn’t long before I found myself working with the young people who trained at Westside and have been doing so for over a year now.
